A word about transparency and accountability…
I worry about accountability in civil society a lot in my work. Its not perfect. And this kind of fundraising is a bit new for me, so it’s an opportunity to try something different.
I’d like to try to be as open and transparent as possible about where your money is going and what it’s doing. There will be an ‘accountability’ category for posts to this blog. In those posts I will provide regular updates on money raised online and in fundraisers. I will be happy to feature donors small and large – just ask! When the time comes, I will also post receipts and other bookeeping bits to let you know how and where the money is being spent.
This is a short-term, small intervention kind of project. I’m not an official non-profit and not a registered 501(c)(3) – sorry, but I can’t issue a receipt for tax-deductions! The idea is to do something on such a small scale that the big guys wouldn’t bother.
